Job Description

The Colorado State Library, an office within the Colorado Department of Education, has an open position to lead the charge in technological areas related to our Experience Design, Drupal Front-End Website Development, Content Strategy, and more. The Digital Experience Consultant is part of the Networking and Resource Sharing team at the Colorado State Library. You would be responsible for crafting an integrated content strategy for our current and future web services. Your results will create important support for improving state-level services for library staff and anyone who uses a library. This Senior Consultant position is exempt. Selected applicant is an employee at will. Direct deposit of paychecks is required. Smoking is not allowed in the State Office Building and is allowed only in designated areas outside the State Office Building. Selected applicant must comply with the Colorado State Board of Education’s Drug-Free Workplace policy. As required by the Immigration Reform and Control Act (IRCA), the selected applicant must verify, within 72 hours of employment, his/her legal right to be employed in the United States.

Minimum Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. • Minimum two (2) years of experience with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. • Minimum two (2) years of experience with the use and/or administration of Drupal. • Proven ability to implement technological change. • Experience in content strategy and online workflow principles and practices. • Experience with user-centered website design principles. • Experience with web analytics, usability testing, website needs analysis, and other research. • Experience with digital image manipulation. • Strong background in customer service. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. • Proven experience with project management and juggling multiple demands. • Ability and willingness to travel. • Ability to pass a background check, which includes a motor vehicle records search. Preferred: • Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in library science or library/media, educational technology, or information science. • Experience with responsive web design and other mobile friendly design. • Basic understanding of PHP. • Experience in the use of APIs. • Knowledge of current educational technology and/or instructional design trends and tools. • Experience developing and delivering online and face-to-face instruction and training. • Experience with basic audio editing and basic digital video editing. • Ability to prioritize independently and identify when to seek input in setting priorities. • Professional library experience, including technology use, in a school, public, academic, or special library.
