Job Description
Duties and Responsibilities: Creates positive experiences for library customers by preparing and presenting informational and educational materials, courses, lectures, and in service instruction for children and adults. Conducts subject research and documentation. The Education Program Assistant will bring a new service environment to customers who are working towards an improved quality of life. The key role of this branch model will be to bring bilingual library services and resources to a diverse customer base that includes new immigrants and their families. Adult programming will be a focus of these branches as well as concurrent children’s programs as part of a bilingual and intergenerational environment. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Ability to thrive working in an environment with constant public contact with people from all backgrounds and age groups. Ability to demonstrate positive attitude, excellent interpersonal skills, cultural sensitivity, and a sense of humor in working with customers, coworkers, and community. Skill in communicating and establishing effective working relationships with employees, volunteers, organizations and the public. Skill in presenting information to groups of adults or children. Skill in designing, preparing, training, implementing and evaluating professional instruction and training programs. Ability to research and compile information. Knowledge of training and development practices and ability to relate to the needs of children. Skill in reading aloud clearly, concisely and with expression; exercising initiative, judgement, and decision making in solving problems and meeting organizational objectives. Sufficient knowledge of library operations, research resources and reader guidance information to be able to assist customers in location of collection materials and obtaining interlibrary loan services. Spanish language skills are strongly preferred.
Additional Info & Requirements
Experience: Two years of experience teaching or presenting information in a variety of situations and settings.
Education: Baccalaureate degree in related field. General computer literacy, including experiences with Internet and database searching.
Special Requirements: Must have a valid Colorado driver’s license.
