Job Description
- Strengthen educational community and general public awareness of libraries' role in student achievement and lifelong learning; be a leader in consulting with and providing training to library staff on customer service and community analysis techniques.
- Serve as a resource for library staff and directors on understanding how the library fosters better communities and can help students reach education goals.
- Provide consultation and training to libraries on best practices for improving services.
- Contribute to the ongoing development of statewide library standards and guidelines.
- Assist with policy development and strategic planning at the stateand local level.
- Create and provide statewide professional development to library staff and trustees on implementing standards in ways that result in better service to the citizenry.
- Develop partnerships and initiatives that improve management, diversity services, civic engagement, and leadership skills among library staff.
- Assist state and local library or government entities with gaining a better understanding of library law and its application in library development.
- Represent the State Library in meetings with the CDE and non-agency personnel, along with the general public.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Strong project management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Able to prioritize independently and identify when to seek input in setting priorities.
