Job Description
Programming work involves researching, designing, developing, and evaluating programs. Education work involves researching, designing, developing, delivering and evaluating training for patrons in the use of library resources and the Internet. Work will include: • Design and delivery of classes for patrons and staff • Scheduling staff to assist with training • Creation of guides and training manuals • Maintaining the patron education database • Coordinates Summer Reading Clubs (SRC) for all ages • Evaluation of the instruction program • Development and analysis of statistical reports • Responsibility for the Patron Education and Programming web pages and handbooks • Train staff to use effective teaching strategies in delivering training • Participating in and chairing library meetings, committees, and task forces • Oversees the expenditure of the programming and patron education budgets • Representing the library through public presentations promoting the Online Library and/or Jefferson County Public Library • Maintaining an awareness of patron library interests and usage via scheduled desk times at the libraries This position reports to the Online and Outreach Library Manager.

In 2007 we provided 99,314 patrons with 5,435 programs at our 10 locations. In addition we have a strong patron education program to help patrons navigate computers and library resources.
