The North Providence Union Free Library Board of Trustees are seeking an energetic, enthusiastic, and forward-thinking individual for the position of Teen/Reference Librarian. The ideal candidate will have experience working with youth ages 10-17, as well as working in a busy Reference Department. Individuals current enrolled in a GSLIS program will be considered.
The YA/Reference Librarian will be expected to:
- Create programs for middle school and high school students.
- Promote library services to youth in the Town.
- Engage teens in meaningful activities, including book clubs and volunteer opportunities.
- Work at the Children's Services Desk as needed.
- Collaborate with local schools on projects and reading lists.
- Assist patrons in the Reference Department with computers, reader's advisory, and other needs as they arise.
- Partner with the Town Recreational Director on projects including a Municipal Learning Program.
- Be able to work evenings and Saturdays.
- Attend Continuing Education courses offered by the Office of Library and Information Services that are relevant to teen and adult services.
- Report to the Head of Information & Technology and the Head of the Children's Department.

- Work in a diverse environment.
- Knowledge of automated library systems, Sierra, and databases.
This position includes six paid holidays a year and eighteen hours of PTO a year.
