Purpose of Position:
The W. Frank Steely Library at Northern Kentucky University (NKU) seeks an innovative and highly collaborative Open Education Program Coordinator who will be instrumental in advancing a growing open educational resource (OER) Program. The Open Education Program Coordinator will communicate broadly and collaborate closely with stakeholders from across the University including students, faculty, staff, and library colleagues to support the role of OER in evolving teaching, learning, and research needs of the NKU community. This position will also be responsible for managing the OER Grant Program, including solicitation and evaluation of proposals, training and support for recipients, and oversight of deliverables. The Open Education Program Coordinator will be responsible for proposing and implementing comprehensive outreach, advocacy, and education efforts as well as the evaluation and assessment of the OER Program. A successful candidate in this position could work remotely and/or on-site. Primary Responsibilities:
Collaborate with a cross-institutional team to guide faculty in the discovery, creation, dissemination, identification, adoption, and assessment of open and affordable course content.
· Create, maintain, curate, and share resources and best practices with respect to the creation, adoption, adaptation, and implementation of OER.
· Oversee the planning, delivery, and evaluation of OER education and outreach events, workshops, training opportunities.
· Administer Pressbooks or other similar open textbook development and design.
· Create, edit, and update OER workshop materials and online content.
· Create evaluation/feedback forms for program participants and compile reports.
· Track progress of OER program participants and projects.
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
· Master’s degree in Library and Information Science or significant progress towards MLIS degree
· Demonstrated familiarity with developments, resources, and services related to open and affordable course content
· Ability to work both independently and collegially on a team
· Demonstrated commitment to the values of inclusivity, diversity, and accessibility
· Excellent oral and written communication skills; demonstrated training and presentation skills
· Excellent time management, organizational, and problem-solving skills with the ability to lead multiple concurrent projects
Preferred Qualifications
· Experience with various content management platforms, including but not limited to OpenStax, Open Textbook Library, and Pressbooks
· Awareness of accessibility requirements for websites and digital content
· Experience or interest in working with learning management systems
· Experience in the creation and deployment of digital learning objects such as videos and interactive tutorials and interest in emerging technologies and tools
