The Town of Erving, Massachusetts is seeking candidates for the full-time, benefitted position of Library Director. The successful candidate will work to grow community-focused programs and services, both within the Library and with other Town departments. This position works 40 hours per week, year-round. Duties include working in close cooperation with the Board of Library Trustees in directing Library activities, operations, and services and in developing policies, plans, budgets, goals, and reports for the Library; train and supervise Library staff and volunteers; work during library public hours (currently Sunday through Thursday 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM) including responding to requests for assistance, being familiar with processing interlibrary loans, and checking out and shelving books; maintain the Library's collection and equipment; oversee use of the community rooms; create and support a mutually supportive teamwork environment. Reports directly to the three (3) member Board of Library Trustees.
Qualifications
A minimum of a Baccalaureates degree with a Master’s Degree in Library Science preferred; three to five (3-5) years of experience in all facets of library administration of which one to two (1-2) years are in a supervisory capacity; including and maintaining a budget; or an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Must demonstrate a strong background with Library circulation systems (Evergreen preferred) and databases, selecting and installing software, troubleshooting Library and patron technology issues, use of social media for communication and to promote Library programs. Must be well organized, motivated, community oriented; able to manage time, establish priorities, exercise independent judgment in making decisions. Must have or obtain MBLC certification within six (6) months of date of hire.
Anticipated hiring range is $60,259 to $62,702 annually and is commensurate with education and experience.
