Job Description
The Greenville Public Library is seeking a public service librarian with a strong background in technology to assist in our children’s and reference departments. In addition to assisting patrons in the library at the children’s and reference desks, this individual will manage the library social media accounts and plan and present programs virtually and in person. Responsibilities:
- Provide reference and reader’s advisory services to patrons in the reference and children’s department
- Provide assistance to patrons using the public computers. Assist patrons in accessing digital resources including ebooks and databases
- Develop and present educational technology programs for children and adults (both virtual and in-person)
- Manage the children’s department webpage and social media accounts for children and adults
- Other duties as assigned by the Children’s Librarian and/or the Assistant Director
Qualifications:
- MLIS or currently enrolled in MLIS program
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working with the public
- Experience with library service to children preferred
- Command of current and emerging technologies relevant to library service and programming for all ages
- Willing to work both evenings and weekends. Schedule flexibility preferred
Skills:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to troubleshoot technology issues, including equipment in-house and with patron devices
- Driven to work on a team as well as independently on assigned projects
Hours: approximately 30 hours per week including alternating Saturdays
Compensation: $20/ hr
