Part Time Library Assistant
South Kingstown Public Library
The Town has a part time Library Assistant position available within the South Kingstown Public Library system for someone to work an average of 16 hours per week. The Town’s library system is comprised of the Peace Dale Library, and two branch libraries; the Kingstown Free Library and Robert Beverly Hale Library. The Library provides free, convenient, and equal access to print and non-print materials, services, programs, and technologies that support our community’s informational, educational, cultural, and recreational needs.
The available schedule is currently Monday 2pm to 8pm, Thursday 12:30pm to 6pm and Friday 9am to 2pm. Due to COVID-19, the work schedule and location are subject to change based on business need.
The duties of a Library Assistant include checking library materials in and out, answering the telephone, circulation desk duties, registering patrons for library cards, collecting overdue fines and fees, processing and shelving materials, and providing general assistance to patrons. To be considered, applicants must have a pleasant, helpful manner, be dependable, detail oriented, and have the ability to multi-task. Applicants must be able to establish and maintain successful working relationships with the public and fellow employees in a courteous manner, good communication skills, and have experience using a computer. To qualify, applicants must have earned a high school diploma or GED. Previous experience working in a library setting is preferred, but not necessary. The position pays $12.25 per hour.
