The Librarian performs a broad range of professional responsibilities of librarianship in the library or learning resource center of a Community College providing library services to students, faculty, and citizens of the communities served by the College.
These professional responsibilities encompass a broad spectrum including reference services; online, original, and copy cataloging; inter-library loan management; collection development; circulation management; acquisitions; and teaching students and faculty in the use of such library resources as online access to information, bibliographic search, access to print materials and methods of research for academic course materials. In addition, the library relies to an increasing extent on computer-based information technology. Therefore, the Librarian may be assigned to provide professional information technology services.
Successful Candidate must have or must possess:
- Ability to perform the full range of professional librarianship with strong competencies in public services
- Information technology and information literacy skills and instruction in the effective use of library resources in a higher education environment; demonstrated ability to lead and train support staff.
- Experience in collection development.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in an academic setting providing direct service to students, faculty, and community members
- Experience training and supervising student workers
- Experience with instructional design, student learning, and assessment using multiple modalities and pedagogical approaches
- Experience with tutorial creation tools and software such as LibAnswers, LibGuides, and LibWizard
