ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Coordinates adult programming for the library district including special events and classes. Ensures that regular programs are held that meet library goals and objectives. Promotes library service and resources by providing classes and talking to groups outside of the library. Works with community organizations and volunteers as a resource for developing and promoting library programming. Offers excellent, proactive reference service. Provides reference service beyond the walls of the library by offering presentations and developing outreach opportunities to members of our community. Coordinates the Ask Colorado virtual reference service. Develops reader’s advisory training and tools for staff development and patron instruction. Serves as an example for all staff in providing library service and communicating expectations. Actively participates and contributes to various library committees and activities. REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: MLIS/MLS from accredited ALA graduate school or degree completed by August 2009 2 – 3 years experience in a library setting, preferred REQUIREMENTS: Excellent public presentation skills Proficiency in word processing software, Internet and electronic mail Ability to navigate OPAC Ability to obtain and maintain a valid Colorado driver’s license and to transport self to other library locations DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS: Bi-lingual with fluency in English PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to: Maneuver about the library in a timely fashion Read a minimum print size equal to 10 point Times New Roman font HOURS: 40 hours per week, including evenings and weekends PROCEDURE: Submit a cover letter, current résumé, unofficial transcript* and complete Mesa County Public Library District application to: Human Resource Director, Mesa County Public Library District, PO Box 20,000-5019, Grand Junction CO 81502-5019.
