The Library Director is responsible for all operations of the Library and its facilities, and the development and implementation of its service programs to respond effectively to the needs of the community. The Director manages all Library resources and personnel, develops and monitors the budget, oversees facilities, assists the Board of Trustees with long range planning and policy development, and plans and implements overall library goals and objectives.
The Library Director reports to the Board of Trustees and is an at-will employee.

Required: Master's Degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited institution.

The City of Warwick, RI, has an estimated population of 81,000 people. It is home to the state’s main airport, TF Green Airport. There are five libraries serving its population, which include: Warwick Public Library central branch on Sandy Lane, branches in Apponaug, Conimicut, and Norwood, and Pontiac Free Library, an independent, privately endowed facility. The three branches are small neighborhood libraries whose staff are shared with the Central Library. The Central Library building is over 62,000 sq. ft. and is the second largest public library building in the state. It was built in 1965, renovated in 1978, and underwent a major addition and renovation in 1998. Circulation in FY19 was 498,755 print materials and 93,368 electronic items. There were 29,490 Warwick card holders, representing 37% of the population. It had 394,269 visits, and total program attendance of 26,146. Public computer use was 49,722, there were 44,701 wireless uses and 41,328 reference questions answered. The operating budget is $3 million and staff size is 51 full and part time employees.
