The Colorado Department of Corrections is seeking applicants for a General Professional III - Librarian position. This position oversees three correctional facility libraries serving teens and adult male and female offenders. Duties include working with Youthful Offenders System teachers and students to successfully integrate the school media program with the high school curriculum; planning and implementing library services and operational procedures; hiring, training, supervising, and evaluating library technicians in three correctional facility libraries serving teens, adult male, and adult female offenders; preparing unit budget requests, manage library budgets, maintaining accurate records, and submitting narrative and statistical reports; selecting appropriate books, periodicals, and audio-visual materials for library collections in accordance with the collection development plan; purchasing library materials, equipment, and supplies; cataloging materials using the library automation software and maintaining computer catalog and automated circulation system. Training in security procedures will be provided.

Additional Info & Requirements
Preferred candidate will possess a Master's degree in library science from an accredited college or university. Experience in an MS Windows environment, preferably with an automated library catalog and circulation system and database application experience.

Must be at least 21 years of age. Must successfully complete the DOC Basic Training Academy coursework in Canon City, including lecture/exam, a physical self-defense componenet, and AHA certification. Application process includes a urinalysis and background investigation for clearance to work in a correctional facility.
