Job Description
Nature of Work: This position is located in the Acquisitions Department and exists to use knowledge of cataloging principles and library policies to 1) identify the bibliographic elements of purchase requests in order to provide vendors with complete ordering data; 2) verify bibliographer and fund authorizations; 3) encode order and/or item records to correct data elements to ensure receipt of materials requested, to indicate release to proper cataloging unit, and to provide accurate description (by coding) of materials to allow statistical compilation; 4) provide cataloging with the most complete, correct bibliographic record, series treatment, and intended library location information for library materials in all languages and formats; and 5) prevent unnecessary expenditure of library funds by detecting duplicate orders.

Minimum Requirements: Two years full time (or equivalent) of general library experience involving circulation, shelving, and interlibrary loan which must have included administrative experience with an online library system.
Necessary Special Requirement: The University of Colorado at Boulder is committed to providing a safe and productive learning and living community. Highly Desirable Qualifications: : The ideal candidate will have experience working in an Innovative Interfaces library system; experience working with OCLC; and experience in acquisitions.
Substitution: Two years of course work from an accredited college or university including twelve semester hours of library science course work may substitute for two years of the general library experience, but not for the specific administrative experience with an online library system.
