Job Description
Within the Library (50%): Continue ongoing projects in the Tell Ertl Oil Shale Repository, a Special Collection owned by the Arthur Lakes Library, in consultation with Library personnel to ensure effective levels of patron service. Projects currently include: reorganization of repository materials to improve onsite access; enhancing database records; developing workflow for copyright clearance and outsourced digitization; evaluating and processing material donations.
For COSTAR (50%): Develop and manage an operating plan for the Oil Shale Information Office of COSTAR, including resources, budget, timeline, deliverables; assist technical and non-technical oil shale researchers to use available information resources; create and manage a public web presence within the CSM campus web structure; develop relationships with other oil shale repositories; collect and create access to ongoing oil shale research (print and digital). Responsibilities may evolve as the project matures.

Requirements:
Successful and progressive variable library work experience and demonstrated skills in areas such as research, cataloging, developing and maintaining databases, web design, project management, digital projects, records management, and archives.
The successful candidate must demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills and proficiency in English, must be comfortable with technical materials, will be self-directed, and will have a notable attention to detail and to customer service.

The Arthur Lakes Library and the Center for Oil Shale Technology and Research (COSTAR) at the Colorado School of Mines invite applications for a term position of Information Specialist for an Oil Shale Information Office to be established in the Arthur Lakes Library. The position is full-time for 1 year, with possibility of renewal. The position reports to the Director of the Library, and is funded by COSTAR.
