Job Description

Job Summary

The City of Lynnwood is a richly diverse and thriving community north of Seattle. Along with an official population of 40,000 residents, the city draws thousands more regionally to its vibrant commercial sector and Edmonds College.  The 26,000 sq. ft. public library is at the heart of the civic campus, alongside City Hall, Parks and Recreation, Police and Fire Departments.

The Youth Librarian plays a vital role in working collaboratively to support early literacy along with other library services. Story time sessions, the 3rd Graders Read Together program, Explore Summer Reading Program, and Boys & Girls Club visits and Teen connections are just a few examples of services associated with this position. Opportunities abound to partner with the City, School District, and other services supporting early childhood literacy.

This position focuses on system initiatives and committee work, information services, collection maintenance, program and service creation, system level support for smaller community libraries, and community engagement – making connections, developing relationships, and providing services, spaces, and resources that are representative of diverse cultures and perspectives, intentionally inclusive, and accessible to everyone while supporting community organizations and promoting the library.
