Marmot Library Network, a Colorado non-profit consortium of academic, public, and school libraries, is seeking a friendly, creative, pragmatic, and insightful individual to fill the position of Integrated Library Systems Administrator. The successful candidate will join a User Services team that provides remote, help-desk support for all aspects of the consortium’s shared Sierra integrated library systems. Marmot’s work arrangements include remote, hybrid, and in-office options. Marmot’s offices are located in Grand Junction; the successful candidate will be expected to live within the state of Colorado, and have access to high speed internet.
As an ILS Administrator serving the unique needs of public, academic, and school libraries, the position will require both innovation and consistency, along with strong analytical, technical, troubleshooting and communication skills. Work is performed with considerable independent judgment and initiative.
Position Purpose
The Integrated Library Systems (ILS) Administrator holds shared responsibility for the day-to-day support, monitoring, and maintenance of Marmot Library Network’s ILS platform (Sierra) for all libraries in the Marmot consortium. This position supports a variety of services including patron accounts, circulation, cataloging, acquisitions, serials, reports, external interface functions, electronic resource access, security, and discovery.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Maintains the ILS, adjusting settings, configurations, etc, to ensure efficient, reliable, and responsive functionality.
- Provides library staff with reports or query parameters to access information.
- Provides excellent and timely member customer service, responding to library staff questions, concerns, and help tickets.
- Manages the integrations between the ILS and other third-party products including self-checkout machines (SIP2), databases (PatronAPI), ecommerce, and state resource sharing system.
- Manages authentication methods (EZproxy, SSO).
- Evaluates, tests, and implements planned upgrades to all aspects of the ILS.
- Facilitates automation for the ILS using custom scripts and programs.
- Collaborates with colleagues to create and maintain documentation on ILS functionality to help streamline processes, and train staff on specific functions of the ILS.
- Serves as a primary vendor contact to the ILS vendor and other systems integrated with the ILS.
- Ensures compliance with library security and privacy policies in the ILS and associated systems.
- Leads projects utilizing standard project management skills: work plans, project descriptions, risk management, resource management, conducting meetings, documentation, etc.
- Serves on the consortium’s Access Services Committee and various other committees as needed.
- Participates in new member migrations.
- Identifies and pursues enhancements to Marmot’s library systems.
- Researches and experiments with open-source alternatives to commercial ILS and resource sharing platforms (such as ReShare and FOLIO).
- Handles after-hours and weekend calls in rotation with other staff.
- Assists other Marmot staff in projects or tasks that may be assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (BA or BS) or equivalent from an accredited institution of higher education.
- 3-5 years of relevant library experience.
- Working knowledge of ILS parameter administration.
- Working knowledge of ILS configurations as they relate to discovery software.
- Demonstrable proficiency with the Google Suites.
- Demonstrable proficiency with spreadsheet applications.
- Working knowledge of traditional project management styles (Waterfall, SCRUM, Agile, etc.).
- Experience writing technical documentation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree from an ALA accredited institution in Library and Information Science, OR Equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the duties as described.
- Working with multiple libraries as part of consortial services.
- Hands-on participation in managing migrations of library systems or large datasets.
- Working with support ticketing systems, project management systems, and knowledge bases.
- Working with administration of authentication methods (EZproxy, SAML, Shibboleth).
- Working knowledge of Sierra.
- Familiarity with Agile development cycles.
- Working knowledge of SQL, Python, and Tableau or other data analytics software.

The salary range for this position is $70,000 to $74,000. Marmot offers a rich benefits package that includes:

Marmot is a member-driven, non-profit consortium that provides services to 36 member libraries. Member libraries are made up of academic, public, and school libraries. Marmot hosts two shared Sierra systems, an open-source digital archive (Islandora), and a shared analytics platform (Tableau Server). Marmot software development staff provide active development and support for an open-source Discovery Layer (Pika). Marmot also provides a suite of IT services to member libraries including network and workstation management, website hosting, server maintenance, backups, and Envisionware public computer services.
