Primary Responsibility: To perform a variety of duties in the daily operation and activities of outreach programs including bookmobile, homebound, preschool and other outreach services. Key responsibilities and tasks: Provide reader’s advisory to help customers find what they are looking for. Select and deliver materials to seniors and homebound customers. Present storytimes at preschools and select and deliver classroom collections of books. Drive bookmobile following established routes; perform basic inspection and maintenance of the bookmobile. Assist customers with library card registration and circulation. Participate in district-wide special projects Assist with library promotions such as summer reading for children, teens and adults. Provide reference services Teach patrons how to place holds and how to use electronic resources. Plan and implement programs such as book clubs and craft programs. Provide extraordinary customer service. We are looking for a versatile, creative, customer-focused person to join the Outreach team. You would be one of the friendly faces in our library family, reaching out to a diverse population of all ages. You will have the opportunity to drive our new bookmobile (with training, of course) to community and school stops and connect customers with materials.Our ideal candidate will have excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational and technology skills. Some bookstore or library experience is highly desirable. A good driving record is required. DMV records will be checked.
