Collections Student Assistant Student Assistant VI
Overview
The Collections Student Assistant will engage in activities related to collection development and
management as well as other opportunities related to the day-to-day operations of a large
academic library. Every employee of the library is expected to treat others, and in return be
treated, with respect and dignity.
Reports To
Alejandro Marquez, Researcher Support Librarian
Examples of Work Performed
Write content for online news items and highlights to promote collections.
Assist with the assessment of collections.
Process gift collections.
Withdraw or transfer material from collections.
May assist with any special projects for the library in general as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
Enrolled in at least one credit hour in an ALA accredited graduate program in Library
and Information Science.
Ability to work well independently as well as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
Interest in academic librarianship, especially collection development and management.
Attention to detail and accuracy.
Organizational and analytical skills.
Ability to perform without direct supervision except for infrequent occasions involving
the most complex situations.
Schedule: 15 hours per week. Hours are flexible Monday-Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm.
Compensation: $18.82/hr.
