
The Library Director is responsible for all operations of the library and the development, implementation and continual improvement of programs that respond effectively to the needs of the Middletown community.
Duties include:
- budgeting and financial oversight
- community and professional engagement
- management of daily operations
- staff supervision and management
- implementation of library strategy, policy, and governance

The staff is comprised of 16 employees who provide traditional and innovative library services. Service hours are 7 days per week from September through May and 6 days per week during June, July and August. The library is at an exciting point in its history as the Town Council is working toward a plan for a new library building which will serve Middletown as both a resource and cultural center. The director will represent the library's and community's interests throughout the design and construction stages.
Middletown is a community of 17,100 residents, located on historic Aquidneck Island. It was incorporated in 1743, and possesses a rich cultural heritage, an outstanding quality of life, and access to pristine natural resources. There are 7,800 registered library cardholders. Annual circulation in 2022 was 77,000 physical materials, and 34,000 electronic.
