
Warwick Public Library is seeking a part-time Reference Librarian who is eager to work with the public providing excellent customer service. Primary tasks assigned to this position include providing reference and readers advisory service to patrons in-person, via telephone, chat service, and email; assisting and instructing patrons on the computer; participating in collection development and maintenance; keeping up with current library trends and services; and performing additional library related duties as required.
Other points of interest include opportunities in community outreach with our mobile library van, program development, planning and arranging displays, and contributing to the Library's social media pages.
Master's degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited library school or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Must have a knowledge of principles and practices of professional library work; knowledge of current trends in reference services and library services for patrons of all ages; ability to interact effectively with library staff; ability to communicate effectively in English both orally and in writing.
Must be willing to work nights and weekends. September - May, this position will be assigned a 4 hour shift on alternating Sundays.
The Library is located in the heart of Warwick and provides services through the Central location and three small branch libraries. The population of Warwick is roughly 81,000, but the Library is used by patrons from all over the state.
