Position Summary: This position exists to develop and promote Red Rocks Community College's Library instruction program and to coordinate reference services to students, faculty/instructors, and staff.
Description of Position
Instruction: Develops and delivers customized library instruction sessions online and in person, both in the library and in other locations across two campuses. Actively seeks out opportunities to collaborate with teaching faculty/instructors to embed library services and resources into the classroom and the curriculum. Stays abreast of and implements best practices and innovations in library instruction.
Reference: Coordinates provision of multiple modes of reference (in person, phone, IM) services to students, faculty, and staff. Manages participation in AskAcademic chat reference consortium. Recruits, trains, and supervises library science graduate assistants. Stays abreast of, and keeps colleagues appraised of, trends and professional standards related to reference services in academic libraries.
Public services: Provides reference services in-person and virtually to the campus community. Indirectly supervises the Access Desk and student employees, working evening and weekend shifts as needed and providing desk coverage when necessary. Creates and maintains user-centered web content related to major job duties for the library’s online presence.
Service to team & college: Participates in the planning and development of library operations and coordination of services. Collects, analyzes, and synthesizes data and statistics in major job duty areas to set and measure personal and team goals. Represents the library at campus events and by serving on committees and in other official groups.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: Master of Library Science/Library & Information Science. One-year of experience working in Library services. Experience providing library instruction and virtual (IM, Chat) reference services.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience developing library instruction in a higher education environment, including outcomes and assessment. Experience supervising others.Knowledge of Springshare and Libapps services. Membership in or experience working in diverse communities and supporting the success of individuals from racial, ethnic, and gender backgrounds that are underrepresented.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Excellent oral and written communication skills including the ability to give and receive information and present complex information to groups and in public settings. Ability to collect, compile, analyze and evaluate information and make verbal or written presentations based on this information. Ability to create and keep deadlines, manage appointments, pay attention to details, keep work organized, manage competing priorities and plan, prioritize and achieve goals. Proficiency in MS Outlook, Word and Excel. Knowledge of academic information literacy standards. Ability to determine needs of the customer/caller and obtain necessary information. Ability to train/instruct others. Ability to work from campus (primarily our Lakewood campus with occasional hours at the Arvada campus as needed).

Starting Salary: Starting salary is determined by education and experience in accordance with our compensation plan.
