
As the Branch Supervisor, you’ll be based at the East Springfield Branch Library. The Branch is busy with readers, afterschool visitors, and program attendees. We are applying for a state grant to expand the branch and as the Supervisor you can help set the vision for the branch and play an important role in carrying it out. The Supervisor at our East Springfield Branch Library is responsible for assisting the Branch Manager in the everyday functioning of the library. This includes staff supervision, public interaction, programming, reporting of building concerns, and administrative duties. The Supervisor assists the Manager in overseeing and leading the staff at their assigned library. They provide direct public service, create schedules, plan and deliver public programs, and staff the branch on a day to day basis. In collaboration with the Branch Manager, supervision is exercised over a team of six people. The Supervisor engages with the community, manages and helps staff the reference and public service areas, plans and implements programming, and oversees the building and reports any facility problems. We're looking for candidates with a Bachelor’s degree and the completion of an American Library Association-accredited Masters of Library Science. A minimum of three years of professional library experience is desired, including some supervisory education or experience. You'll need an excellent customer service orientation, and a "turned outward" approach to community engagement is ideal. Bilingual abilities desirable (English and Spanish, Russian, Vietnamese, Arabic, Somali, Dari, or other community language).
