The Board of Trustees of the Topsham Public Library (TPL) is accepting applications for a dynamic and enthusiastic Library Director.
The Director will work with and lead an outstanding staff and group of volunteers, building upon the Library's accomplishments and establishing innovative and creative programming to meet the needs of the community.
The successful candidate will hold a Masters in Library Science (MLS) from an American Library Association (ALA) accredited degree program. Experience in library management, budgeting, development and grant writing is preferred. TPL is a 501c3 non-profit library which receives 85% of its funding from the Town of Topsham. The Director works closely with Town Departments and Town Management, although the Library is independently run.
The Director will continue the Library’s commitment to community enrichment, and will work closely with the Trustees on implementing a new long range plan. They will serve as an ambassador, advocating and promoting the Library’s mission with respect for the needs, interests and demands of the community. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and in written, are a must. A thorough working knowledge of modern library policies, practices, technologies and trends is required.
The entry level salary for this position is $75,000. Negotiated compensation will be commensurate with experience. Benefits package includes health and pension plans.
Topsham is a community of approximately 9,000 people in the popular Midcoast region, home to outdoor recreation opportunities, a thriving business sector, and an extremely supportive library community. The average circulation consistently hovers at 100,000 items and 50,000 people use the 13,000 sq. ft. building annually.
