The City of Westminster is seeking two compassionate and collaborative librarians who love working with all ages! The Supervising Librarian position is responsible for providing reference and readers’ advisory to all ages, creating and delivering community-focused programming, and facilitating outreach efforts and library services in the Westminster community.
Supervising Librarians regularly work the information desks, provide outstanding customer service, answer an array of technology and reference questions, and create engaging displays to highlight the library’s collection. This position is also responsible for collection maintenance, staff scheduling, and supervision of associates.

As a Supervising Librarian, your homebase will be the College Hill or Irving Street library and you will report to the Library Services Coordinator (Branch Manager) of that respective location. While similar, these two positions serve different demographics with unique areas of focus. Librarian I – Supervising Librarian – Adult Services (College Hill)
The College Hill branch is a hybrid public/academic library that serves the surrounding community as well as an array of college students. It is jointly operated with the Front Range Community College and partners with them for circulation and various services. The ideal candidate for this position is passionate about serving a spectrum of adult patrons through services like tech help and innovative programming.
Librarian I – Supervising Librarian – Teen/Adult Services (Irving Street)
The Irving Street branch is an urban neighborhood library at the heart of Historic Westminster. It is a small and busy location in a densely populated area with a diverse population, including Hispanic, Hmong, and Native American representation with a wide range of socioeconomic and generational backgrounds. The ideal person for this position has a passion for supporting teens and serving marginalized populations. Bilingual candidates are highly encouraged to apply.
The full salary range for this position is $66,729.00 - $83,422.00 annually. Starting wages are negotiable and dependent on the qualifications and experience of each individual candidate.
The City of Westminster has a Multilingual Stipend Program to encourage and reward benefited employees who are conversationally fluent in languages other than English. Benefited employees have the opportunity to test their language proficiency skills and qualify for a bi-weekly stipend that will vary based on the employee’s level of proficiency and usage.
Required:
- Graduation from an accredited, four-year college
- Master’s Degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited program or equivalent within 6 months of hire
- Previous experience providing services and/or programs for adults and/or teens
- Demonstrated commitment and passion for community engagement and adult literacy
Preferred:
- Supervisory experience
- Spanish language skills
- Previous library experience in a professional level position in public services
Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience, which would provide the required knowledge and skills, may be considered.
