About the Opportunity
At only 2 square miles, Brier is a small municipality of just over 6500 residents that sits on the southwestern corner of Snohomish County at the county line. The community prides itself on holding rural, small-town aspects despite being surrounded by much larger cities. Though the city has been historically seen as small and rural, the community has seen a large influx of new families with young children, many of whom are from diverse communities. Brier has few businesses and services and currently has one public transit line linking to the Mountlake Terrace transit center, with one route in the mornings and afternoons. The successful candidate may be required to adapt to future schedule and location changes depending on library needs.
The Brier 15-hours-per-week Library Associate position will primarily support our library staff with operational duties and serve as backup support for current Library Associate staff in preparing and implementing our programming needs. This position may require conducting Storytimes and other programming as needed. Primary duties will include basic operations within the Brier library. This includes but is not limited to front desk customer service, checking in and checking out items, shelving, shelf-reading, and other duties as needed. The person selected may be required to serve as the person in charge of the library for short periods of time.
Our Library Associate position performs skilled paraprofessional library support services to contribute to the Library District's effective operation, providing library services, spaces, and resources that are representative of diverse cultures and perspectives, intentionally inclusive, and accessible to everyone.
This position is part of a bargaining unit represented by AFSCME Council 2.
