Overview
The Discovery Systems & Metadata department oversees the cataloging, discovery, and access to all of Auraria Library’s collections and resources. It is responsible for maintaining the Library’s catalog database, online discovery systems, and electronic resource tracking system. This position will have the opportunity to learn about electronic resources workflows and best practices while working in a professional library environment. Specific duties for this position may include, but are not limited to, maintaining electronic resources, working with the Summon discovery interface, cleaning up the Library’s catalog database, assessing library discovery tools, and working on projects that involve data manipulation.

Job Duties
· Using specialized software - Summon, Serials Solutions, BrowZine, Google Scholar, Sierra, electronic databases – to assist the Discovery & Metadata department in providing access to library resources for Auraria students, faculty, and staff.
· Update electronic journal holdings and perform other routine maintenance.
· Use Excel to analyze electronic resource holdings data.
· Verify off campus access to library resources (eg. streaming videos, ebooks, online journals).
· Assist with cleanup of the Library’s catalog database.
· Conduct user assessment of library discovery systems and online databases.
· Work on a linked data project that involves creating mappings between MARC21 and RDA; developing and publishing local RDF vocabularies; and completing entity lookups and de-duplication across medium-sized datasets.

Schedule: 10 - 13 hours per week.
Compensation: $18.29

Minimum Qualifications
- Enrolled in at least one credit hour at a higher education institution.
Preferred Qualifications
· Some knowledge of library data models like MARC and RDA.
· Interest in linked data and metadata.
· Experience with coding languages such as Python and/or XSLT.
· Experience with database querying languages such as SQL and/or SPARQL.
· Ability to perform without direct supervision except for infrequent occasions involving complex situations.
