The Broomfield Library, Arts, History & CSU Extension department has an opening for a full-time Programming Librarian. We are seeking a high performing, innovative and team-focused individual with library programming experience who is excited about reaching adult audiences.

General Duties:
Plans and conducts library programs; prepares publicity for all programs and services in assigned area. Conducts tours of library and engages with community organizations. Coordinates displays and bulletin boards for program area. Researches the availability of grant monies and prepares grant applications; solicits funds and donations for library programs in accordance with library goals. Collaborates with other library and city staff in developing services and programs.
Maintains quality public service by providing direct service to library patrons at a public service desk. Assists patrons by recommending books and assisting in selection of books and other materials; answers research and reference questions using both print and electronic resources; assists patrons in the use of public-access catalogs and resource materials; and explains and enforces library policies and procedures. Provides reference and reader's' advisory services, and library orientation to patrons. Serves as the Person-in-Charge (PIC) of the library and operations on a weekly or as needed basis.
Provides on-the-job training to volunteers as needed. Issues written and oral instructions. Participates in the review of job applicants and in the interview process when appropriate. Reads professional publications and attends professional meetings to keep informed of new publications and library materials, services, and current events that affect assigned program area. Takes proper safety precautions, anticipate unsafe circumstances, and act accordingly to prevent accidents. Uses all required safety equipment. Performs related duties as required.
Programming and Public Services Duties:
Designs, plans, promotes, evaluates and implements library programs for all ages in collaboration with fellow programming staff as needed for department. Maintains statistics. Assesses new needs in programming and technology. Coordinates and supervises program volunteers as needed. Provides community outreach by maintaining contact with schools, businesses, nonprofits and other related community organizations. Prepares marketing plans and materials as needed and follows department process and guidelines for marketing. Ensures timely entry of programs into program registration system. Maintains and provides excellent customer service at the public service desk. Provides general assistance and information about the library’s services and procedures. Explains library policies and procedures to patrons and determines best course of action to resolve issues in a courteous and positive manner. Guides customers seeking assistance with public computer services, printing and copying, or digital and emerging technologies at the public service desk or through instructional classes. Provides reference and reader’s advisory services. Prepares book lists, bibliographies and book displays.
Minimum Qualifications
Training - Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. Master’s degree in library science or related field is preferred.
Experience – Previous experience developing and leading programs and community engagement efforts for adults in a public library setting or related field, with a minimum of one year required experience, and three years preferred. preferred in public library public programming. Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred.
