
This is a 40-hour per week, exempt, at-will role.
Job Summary: The Library Manager oversees the daily operations of the library, contributes to program development, and evaluates all aspects of library service to the public. As part of the Public Services management team, the Library Manager contributes to strategic planning and to system-wide improvement of services. The Library Manager engages with community members who reside in the neighborhoods served by the library to identify programs and services that meet their interests and information needs. The Library Manager provides leadership and fosters a participatory workgroup culture that encourages employees to take ownership of their performance, development, and accomplishments.
Essential Functions:
- Recruits, hires, trains, supervises, and terminates staff. Evaluates staff performance and provides coaching and additional training as needed. (25%)
- Schedules staff to provide consistent and appropriate daily coverage of operations. Works with other managers to fill gaps in daily staffing. Evaluates and revises workgroup processes to improve efficiency and service to patrons. (20%)
- Collaborates with peers and colleagues to develop and deliver the system-wide summer learning program and other programs and events that interest the community members who the library serves. Participates in outreach planning and activities to engage the local community. (15%)
- Oversees the maintenance of library material collections and makes collection development recommendations. (10%)
- Resolves challenging situations with patrons. (10%)
- Oversees the branch facility: requests repairs as needed; makes recommendations for improvements; and coordinates and consults on contracted maintenance and remodeling work.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Monitors program and miscellaneous expenses to stay within the budget.
- Attends meetings, serves on library-wide committees and projects, and participates in professional development opportunities.
- Creates and updates staff trainings.
- Evaluates and reports library use statistics.

The Gunbarrel library is a long-awaited and very exciting addition to the Boulder Public Library District. The new location will located in the heart of Gunbarrel, right across the street from the King Soopers on Lookout Road. Imagine excited patrons being able to grocery shop and pick up books all in one trip.
