Summary:
The Coordinator of Technology supervises, plans, recommends, analyzes and coordinates the automation, communication, computer training and on-line systems within the library system; participates in short and long range planning for Library automation; and coordinates activities with other departments.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for design, implementation, integration and daily operations of the Library’s automation and communication systems, including the circulation system, LANs, WANs, wireless network, web pages, blog, other social media, computer equipment and all peripherals, telecommunications, and related evolving systems.
- Examines technological options and makes recommendations for implementation.
- Selects, evaluates and make recommendations for purchase of all library automation equipment.
- Critically evaluates and assesses existing and new services and systems to ensure that staff and user needs are met.
- Participates in short and long term planning for all departments, and participates in other library projects as needed.
- Monitors all system functions including security cameras and control systems, and is responsible for proper operation.
- Communicates with vendors as needed.
- Establishes preventive maintenance, security, backup and disaster recovery procedures.
- Provides reference service to adults and teens.
- Develops and conducts computer classes for staff and the public.
- May serve as librarian in charge in the absence of the Director and Deputy Director.
- Provides evening and weekend services as required, and performs other related duties.
