To provide customer service in a public library setting, oriented technical training and support ensuring total functionality of Makerspace equipment utilized by library patrons and library staff. Work both independently and as part of a team by providing support in other areas of library service including Circulation, Youth Services, Reference, and Adult Services as needed. Schedule includes days, nights and weekends. Must be available with a flexible schedule.
- Plan, implement and evaluate Makerspace programs and activities for patrons of all ages in collaboration with library staff from other library departments.
- Organize a Makerspace Lab and create a use policy with best practices for safety, compliance and collaboration with the library community of users. Maintain a clean, safe and efficient work environment that is welcoming to all.
- Identify, troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and network related problems encountered by library users and staff in the library.
- Actively participate in instructional classes (individual and group settings) in areas of public library service, makerspace equipment and other technology.
- Assist with the maintenance of the library website (familiarity with Wordpress a plus) for accuracy, updates and functionality as needed.
- Advise Library Director regarding makerspace issues, needs, and make recommendations for improvements and new acquisitions related to patron’s needs.
- Reports to Library Director and performs other library related duties as assigned.
Full-Time Position (40 hours) with health benefits, vacation and retirement plan.
- Previous experience with Makerspace Technology, equipment and instructional practice with individuals and small groups within a library setting.
- Possess good written and oral communication skills.
- Strong background in computers, networking, troubleshooting.
- Ability to offer advice and work closely with all age groups in areas of library service.
