
Part-Time Children’s Librarian – Pawtucket Public Library

The Pawtucket Public Library is looking for a part-time Children’s Librarian. The responsibilities of this position includes planning and presenting programs for children, collection development, reference services, advertising programs and services, representing the library in the community, and participating in ongoing educational opportunities. The applicant should have a strong service oriented philosophy to work in a busy public library that serves a multi-ethnic community.
Benefits: vacation, sick leave after 6 months probationary period. Personal time after one year anniversary and paid city holidays.
Minimum Requirements: A Master of Library Science degree from an ALA accredited institution within six months of start date. Course work should include children’s services courses. Applicant must have knowledge of library resources and procedures. Applicant must also have knowledge of current technological applications for information access and ability to utilize these resources with a high degree of accuracy and proficiency. BCI check is required.
Hours: 19 hours per week. Suggested schedule is Monday 9 am to 5 pm, Wednesday 9 am to 2 pm, and alternate Friday/Saturday 9 am to 5 pm.
