The Patron Services Librarian is responsible for adult library services and works with both patrons and staff to provide quality service and materials to the community. This includes the development of the adult collections. Planning, promotion and implementation of programming for adults in accordance to the library mission statement and strategic plan. This position is full-time (40 hours) with health benefits, retirement plan, and vacation. Work schedule includes days, nights and weekends.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain a welcoming, comfortable and friendly experience for library users.
- Plans, coordinates, implements, oversees and evaluates library programs to meet community needs and collaborates with other departments in scheduling and planning.
- Develops marketing materials for promoting library materials, programs, and services, including monthly online and paper newsletters. Creates bibliographies and user guides spotlighting adult services and programs.
- Creates, develops and maintains library website and other social media platforms with the assistance of other library departments.
- Maintains a current knowledge of books, films, authors, and trends in library services and programs by participating in professional development opportunities that lend to quality services in a public library setting.
- Select, purchase, catalog and withdraw materials in the area of adult print fiction, periodicals and non-print collections using library standards, guidelines and library policy.
- Manage circulating Rokus and Nook devices while budgeting for expenses related to maintaining and growing the titles for the Nooks.
- Assist/instruct adult patrons and library staff in using various library services including but not limited to the online catalog, library equipment, and the use of the facilities.
- Assists with data gathering for reports and other tools for assessing library needs.
- Participates as a member of the Supervisory Team with other department leaders and the Library Director to maintain a cohesive organization.
- Provides staff support in all areas of library service including desk coverage and supervising staff and library volunteers.
- Research and implement best practices as it applies to this library position including technology and other areas of library service.
- Performs other library related duties as assigned by director.

A candidate for this position requires an MLS or MLIS from an ALA accredited school. Candidate will demonstrate experience in a public library with focus on reader’s advisory, programming and collection development with a minimum of 3 years’ experience. Strong computer background. Compensation takes into consideration a candidate’s work experience, supervisory experience and a strong work ethic.
