The Greenville Public Library Board of Trustees is seeking an innovative, visionary individual to lead the Greenville Public Library as Director. The Greenville Public Library provides comprehensive library services to the residents of Smithfield and surrounding areas, with emphasis on providing a community meeting place, general reference, and lifelong learning. The position reports to the Board of Trustees.

Responsibilities

• Manages the budget as directed by the Board of Trustees
• Prepares monthly and annual budgets for the Board of Trustees
• Oversees the daily operations of the library
• Supervises, recruits, and hires library staff
• Oversees marketing and publicity efforts
• Maintains strong connections with municipal and community organizations
• Attends professional library, town, and community meetings as the official representative of the library
• Prepares grant proposals and oversees grant fulfillment
• Develops and implements solicitation of donations and fundraising initiatives
• Responsible for collection management and development
• Develops and implements the strategic plan

Minimum Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science from and ALA-accredited program
• At least 5 years of work experience in a professional setting
• At least 3 years of progressively responsible library management experience
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to adapt in challenging situations and implement creative solutions to issues
