This is a full-time, exempt 40-hour-per-week position, primarily located in Rifle, CO.

Non-MLIS Degree Pay Range: $69,259 - $88,394/year; MLIS Degree Pay Range: $74,585 - $95,191/year.

Actual placement is dependent on experience and education. Typically candidates are hired closer to the beginning of the pay range.

We offer a robust menu of benefits including 100% premium paid medical, dental, and vision insurance for employee-only coverage; a generous contribution to family medical coverage; 100% premium paid short and long-term disability and life insurance; up to 6% employee contribution into a retirement savings plan; a wellness reimbursement plan; paid vacation, sick, and holiday time; and a stipend for Spanish proficiency.

Overview of key responsibilities:

You oversee the selection, acquisition, and evaluation of materials across various formats, ensuring a diverse and dynamic collection. By supervising and mentoring the Technical Services team, you coordinate workflows and foster effective communication within the department and with library branch staff. Collaborating closely with branch staff, you work to understand patron needs and preferences, ensuring local communities are well-served through the collection. You manage and monitor the collection development budget while staying informed on industry trends, leveraging data and feedback to guide collection decisions. Additionally, you actively engage in professional development and represent the library at professional events to stay at the forefront of best practices.

Job Competencies:

Job competencies include building effective teams by fostering a sense of belonging and defining success collectively, while encouraging open dialogue and teamwork. You value collaboration by freely sharing knowledge, supporting others' development, and creating an environment of growth and exploration. Demonstrating strong customer focus, you prioritize delivering exceptional service and maintaining effective relationships with both internal and external customers. Decision-making is timely and pragmatic, with a balanced consideration of alternatives, making you a trusted advisor. With high emotional intelligence, you maintain self-control, address conflicts empathetically, and respond appropriately to others' emotions. You advocate for intellectual freedom by supporting unrestricted access to information and opposing censorship. Your comprehensive job knowledge ensures a deep understanding of responsibilities and their relation to broader operations. As a leader, you inspire integrity, teamwork, and commitment, fostering a positive, respectful, and recognition-driven work environment.

District Competencies:

District competencies include adaptability and flexibility, demonstrated by openness to change, embracing new ideas, managing shifting priorities, and handling pressure effectively. Strong communication skills ensure clear and effective articulation of thoughts, active listening, and proficiency in both verbal and written interactions. Exemplary customer service involves treating all staff, patrons, visitors, and vendors with respect, compassion, and courtesy, while recognizing fellow staff as internal customers deserving the same high standard of care. Initiative is evident through proactive problem-solving, seeking new responsibilities, acting on opportunities, and engaging in self-development. Integrity is upheld by adhering to rules, staying on task, and completing work independently. Teamwork is reflected in offering and accepting help, valuing others' opinions, fostering inclusivity, and participating in activities that benefit the District as a whole.
