Non-MLIS Degree Pay Range: $24.76 - $31.60/hr; MLIS Degree Pay Range: $26.66 - $34.03/hr.
Actual placement is dependent on experience and education. Typically candidates are hired closer to the beginning of the pay range.

Overview of key responsibilities:
This position is responsible for creating, planning, and implementing a variety of youth services programs, performing community outreach, and collaborating with the Branch Manager to offer robust services for children and teens aged 0 to 18. The role includes developing and delivering engaging events and classes such as storytime, STEAM programs, book clubs, and artistic activities. Collaboration is key, as the position involves contributing to District-wide events, attending meetings, and providing leadership and organizational support.
Additional responsibilities include selecting books, materials, and activities for youth programs, coordinating schedules with presenters and performers, evaluating program effectiveness, and monitoring and maintaining the branch's youth collection to reflect community needs. Duties also encompass front-line customer service, assisting patrons of all ages with circulation, account questions, and computer use, as well as addressing reference inquiries and offering readers' advisory services.
The role involves evaluating programs to ensure they meet the developmental needs of targeted groups, creating informative exhibits and displays, and sharing program information with other branches. Other tasks include participating in ongoing training and actively participating on the District's Youth Services Coordinator team and special projects. The Youth Services Coordinator offers guidance and education to staff and caregivers in early literacy, childhood development, and reader's advisory for youth.
The position ensures patron compliance with library policies, serves as Person in Charge in the absence of branch management, and takes on additional duties as assigned, all while maintaining a commitment to excellent customer service and community engagement.

Qualifications:
Required:
- Relevant bachelor's degree, or equivalent combination of four (4) years of education and/or experience, and;
- Minimum of four (4) years of relevant experience educating children and/or working with youth development programs or initiatives.
Preferred:
- Experience working in a library.
- Experience working with teens.
- Bilingual in Spanish or another language.
