Under broad policy guidance and direction from the Library Board, the Library Director:
- Provides leadership and vision to fulfill the mission of the Library District.
- Implements policies and directives of the Board of Trustees and supports the Board’s governance and fiduciary responsibilities.
- Is responsible for all operations of the District including Human Resources, Finance, Technology, Communication, Collection Development, and Public Services. Performs professional and administrative duties in planning, developing, implementing, and directing public library services.
In addition, a robust benefits package will be provided that includes annually:
- Vacation: 12 days per year
- Executive leave: 8 days per year
- Sick leave: 12 days per year
- 11 Paid State holidays

- Participation in Public Employees Retirement System
The final interview process will be conducted onsite in Sedro-Woolley, WA. It is anticipated that it will consist of a variety of activities held over two days, which will include a tour of the library, meet and greet sessions with library staff and community stakeholders, and a formal interview by the Board of Trustees.
The following timeline, subject to change, has been established:
- Applications due: February 9, 2025
- Screening interviews: Week of February 17-21, 2025
- Final interviews: March 14-15, 2025
The Library serves a population of approximately 28,000, primarily concentrated around Sedro-Woolley and along Highway 9 and Highway 20, is growing rapidly and has a younger, family-oriented demographic, with about 20% of the population identifying as Hispanic. The beauty and diversity of this area with nearby lakes, rivers, mountains, and coastal beaches makes it a compelling location for active families and outdoor enthusiasts. Sedro-Woolley is known as the “Gateway to the Northern Cascades” because it is located on the western edge of the majestic Cascade Mountain Range in northwest Washington State.
