Job Description

Title: COORDINATOR, ROVER, MOBILE LIBRARY SERVICES

Location: Koelbel Library, 5955 S. Holly Street Centennial, CO 80121

Reports to: Manager, Mobile Library Services

FLSA Status: Non-exempt, 40 hours

Ability to work evenings and weekends required.

Pay Rate: $28.70 -$35.87 per hour

Purpose: Through a collaborative, team-oriented focus, leads the creation of community programs provided in the Rover vehicle. Oversees the cross-functional collaboration to coordinate events for children, teens, and adults. Liaisons with community stakeholders to help inform services provided. Provides team leadership, strategic visioning, and trains and mentors library staff.


 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


 

60% Rover Services Coordinator

  • Strategically plans, implements, and evaluates the district's Rover Services, and serves as the project manager for related projects and teams. Accountable for facilitating meetings, maintaining timelines, and creating communication plans and other project documentation.
  • Inspires a shared vision for Rover Services by promoting collaboration and strategic alignment with various teams from across the organization. This includes but is not limited to the work of Information Services, Child and Family Library Services, Creative Specialists, and Events.
  • Disseminates information, provides context, and collects feedback related to the Rover Service, and makes recommendations to the Mobile Library Services Manager.
  • Works with the team to understand and assure the effective and efficient use of the team's budget.
  • Builds and maintains relationships with community stakeholders.


 

30% Mobile Librarian Services:

  • Provides a wide spectrum of programs and services in the community. Develops and facilitates library programs in a mobile environment with an emphasis on those that promote literacy, digital literacy, community engagement, lifelong learning, and the use of library resources and services. Collaborates across departments in program development, promotion, and implementation.
  • Identifies community resources, outreaches to multicultural community groups, and works collaboratively with community service agencies to promote library services.
  • Researches and keeps up with trends in library and mobile services. Advances professional knowledge and networking through attending and presenting at professional conferences and publishing in professional journals.
  • MENTORING - Develops the knowledge, skill, and ability of staff by providing training and informal mentoring in order to expand their ability to serve patrons from ethnically diverse backgrounds.


 

10% Driving:

  • Drives the Rover Vehicle to service sites for fueling, checks vehicle for safety and serviceability, maintains surface appearance and completes inspection checklists, safely operates the vehicle and observes traffic regulations.
  • Trains new drivers to safely operate the Rover vehicle.
  • Coordinates with Facilities Department for vehicle maintenance and repair.


 

Performs other related duties and may contribute to cross-functional initiatives and projects as assigned and requested.


 

Minimum Qualifications:


 

  • Master's degree in the library and information studies field. Or the ability to obtain a master's degree in the library and information studies field within three years from the start of the program. An application to the library school must be made within six months of the date of hire.
  • Valid Colorado Driver's License with a clean driving record.
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Ability to work in a confined environment with fluctuating temperatures.
  • Experience teaching, training, or mentoring others.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to demonstrate effective leadership skills, including practical. thinking, problem solving, adaptability, coaching, mentoring and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to keep confidential information.
  • Ability to travel between facilities.
  • Ability to work varying shifts, including evenings and weekends.
  • Ability to work independently, be proactive and show initiative.
  • Ability to prioritize and delegate tasks.
  • Intermediate technology skills for Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook) and familiarity with Microsoft Edge and Microsoft Teams, and an ability to learn and apply new technologies.
  • Ability to demonstrate curiosity in the vast technological and online resources the library has to offer and comfortable learning side by side with patrons.
  • Ability to communicate new ideas, products, and services in a positive and engaging manner.
  • Demonstrate enthusiasm for an environment of constant change.
  • Ability to work with people of all ages and diverse backgrounds.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Two years of similar or related experience, such as library service or customer service.
  • Experience in public library outreach.
  • Experience driving large sized, non-standard vehicles.
  • Fluency in conversational Spanish language.
  • Demonstrate ability to work with children and teens.


 

Physical Activities:

Physical activities required to perform essential duties include:


 

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 25-50% of the time.
  • Must be able to move around 50-75% of the time.
  • Ability to lift to 40 lbs.
  • Ability to carry up to 40 lbs.
  • Ability to push and pull a cart weighing up to 100 lbs.
  • Ability to kneel, crouch, reach and stoop 50% of the time.
  • Use of hands, fingers, and grasping of books, DVDs are required, with repetitive motion.
  • Long periods of sitting, remaining stationary, or moving around.
  • Frequency or repetitive actions which includes typing, shelving materials, occasionally opening and closing media cases.
  • Bending, grasping, stretching without limitations which includes reaching into bins for materials, moving bins and carts filled with materials, shelving, and shifting materials at various height levels.
  • Lifting above your waist, head, shoulders etc. up to 25 lbs.
