DPL is hiring a Library Assistant V for Decker Branch Library. In this position, you will set a high standard of customer service for other coworkers, welcoming all customers to the library, making connections that extend beyond the transactional, and explaining library policies so customers are able to meet obligations while finding value in their library experience. As team leader, you will use an equity-driven approach as you determine work priorities and develop schedules to provide staff coverage; encourage teammates’ growth and engagement as a group and individually; and develop work-related goals. This position works closely with the branch supervisor, conducting hiring interviews and selecting high quality candidates that represent a wide array of perspectives and life experiences, reporting building and technology issues, and serving as person-in-charge in the branch supervisor’s absence. As the point person for Circulation, you will oversee circulation functions by interpreting policies, communicating procedural changes, and using informed judgment appropriately and equitably to resolve issues. You will also serve as the branch Change Fund Custodian, being a responsible steward of all cash funds and customer payments, and ensuring staff are up to date in training and processes.
