Job Description
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES: Performs professional library reference work with all customers through the use of all types of library resources, and oversees the operations of an assigned Branch Library.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides advanced reference and research services to the public; performs circulation desk duties; maintains assigned Branch facility; provides specialized staff instruction in reference; assists groups and individuals in locating and obtaining library materials; develops library bibliographic aids; develops and implements special reference services and associated programs; provides programming and maintains calendar of programs and events; maintains daily statistics and provides monthly reports; supervises other library workers and volunteers; manages cash flow; plans and organizes formal and informal library instruction for community; and performs additional duties as assigned.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Physical Demands: Sedentary physical work requiring ability to lift a maximum of 10 pounds; may require frequent lifting, carrying, walking, and standing; may require pushing and pulling of boxes; speech communication and hearing to maintain communication with employees and citizens; vision for reading and recording information; hand/eye coordination for operation of a computer system.
Work Environment: Works in a clean, comfortable environment.
Equipment Used: Frequently uses standard office equipment including a computer system, copy/fax machines, and printers.
DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Master's degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited program.
Experience: At least 6 months of professional library experience working directly with customers.
Knowledge: Knowledge of the principles, organization, and practices of library service; library classification system; a computer system and related software.
Abilities: Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with other employees and library users; communicate effectively both verbally and in writing; work independently with indirect supervision; work shifts, nights, and weekends.
Skills: Strong interpersonal skills
