Job Description
Creates lifelong library customers by implementing and managing library services designed primarily for families and children. Promotes and nurtures reading. Provides homework and technology assistance to students. Develops programs and activities that invite participation by parents and children together. Communicates effectively about issues and initiatives with customers, staff, and administration.

Status/Schedule: Regular, part-time, 20 hours per week. The schedule will be determined by the needs of the branch and may require some evenings or weekends.
Salary Range: $18.28 - $22.83 per hour starting salary range
$18.28 - $29.15 per hour full salary range

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Considerable knowledge of children's information needs, collection maintenance and reader and media guidance. Proven track record in providing programming and library service to children and families. Skill in providing children's reference and reader's advisory and in introducing children to literature, research materials and technology. Skill in interpreting, communicating, and presenting information, both orally and in writing. Ability to thrive working in an environment with constant public contact with people from all backgrounds and age groups. Ability to demonstrate positive attitude, excellent interpersonal skills, cultural sensitivity, and a sense of humor in working with customers, coworkers, and community. Ability to creatively problem-solve, negotiate, and handle stressful situations in a positive manner. Ability to demonstrate innovation and flexibility. Strong organizational and computer skills.
Experience: Experience in providing quality children's and family programs and services.
The Community
Become a Librarian at a Family branch and create a new library experience for families. The key role of this branch model will be to provide materials and programming for the family who visits the library together. A strong emphasis will be placed on helping parents connect the resources of the library with the educational and recreational needs of their children and the family as a whole.
