Job Description
Foster effective internal and external communications; develop, monitor, and implement a strategic plan, propose recommendations and implement Board policies and operating procedures, provide sound fiscal management including seeking additional revenue resources, and explore and develop collaborative relationships with city government and local, regional, and statewide organizations and agencies.

Des Moines Public Library serves the state capital, a city of 200,000 from a new central library and 6 new or rennovated branches with 85 dedidated FTE. Director works for the Board of Trustees and with the city government and the Library Foundation. Excellent communication skills a must!Eight-ten years progressively responsible experience in a medium sized public library and at least five years of executive level experience as director of a smaller library system or deputy, assistant, or associate director of a comparable system
