Job Description
The individual hired for this position will have an office in a Department of Corrections facility in either Denver, Pueblo, or Cañon City, depending on the applicant's preference and office availability at the time of hire.

Additional Info & Requirements
Minimum Requirements:
• Master’s degree in library science OR equivalent library/media or information science master’s degree.
• Five years experience managing or consulting with an institutional (preferably correctional) library.
• Good computer skills using Windows and Microsoft Office products.
• Thorough knowledge of library principles and practices: Selecting, acquiring, classifying and cataloging materials; collection development/management planning; needs assessment; reference service; readers’ advisory service; basic interlibrary loan procedures; Internet and online database searching.
• Must agree to travel extensively in Colorado and have a valid driver’s license.
Special requirements:
• Must have NO felony convictions and successfully complete the Colorado Department of Corrections Basic Training coursework in Cañon City, including a physical self-defense component. Must pass a background investigation and drug screening to be cleared to work in the correctional facilities.
Preferred knowledge/Experience/Ability:
• Consulting experience with multiple correctional or institutional libraries.
• Flexibility and a high tolerance for ambiguity.
• Supervisory experience.
• Organized, persuasive written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities at the same time.
• Successful experience with justification and management of multiple budgets.
• Experience training professional and paraprofessional library staff.
• Assertiveness and excellent interpersonal skills.
