Job Description
Responsibilities (include but not limited to):
• Communicate consistently, responsibly and regularly with clients in the form of telephone calls, e-mail, written reports, CARL User Group, and site visits.
• Planning and negotiation both internally and externally.
• Communicate problems, contractual obligations, and other site needs internally to the appropriate staff and management. Maintain knowledge of key issues and their priority by site, and articulate these within the company.
• Develop and maintain productive working relationships with a wide variety of personalities who possess varying levels of interpersonal and technical skill, both internally and with clients.
• Gather information from within the organization relating to the customer’s projects and problems and communicate that information back to the client in a consultative and collaborative form.
• Participate in specification development with the client as appropriate.
• Be familiar with customer contracts. Coordinate contract renewal and amendment process as appropriate.
• Work with others to prepare and present quotes and proposals requested by the clients as appropriate.
• Inform sites of new products and training opportunities.
• Request, initiate, expedite, track, escalate, and participate in projects as appropriate.
Additional Info & Requirements
Qualifications:
• Bachelor of Arts or Science
• MS in Library Information Science is preferred
• Customer Service background with experience in libraries or a related information field
• Experience working as a vendor is preferred
• Proficient in Windows and internet technology
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills
• Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
• Ability to communicate in support of varied needs (ie technical staff and end users)
• Ability to effectively represent The Library Corporation to groups in a consultant role
• Able to work both independently and in a team environment
• Able to reprioritize work based on changing circumstances
• Adept at managing tasks in a time constrained environment, seldom requiring direct supervision
• Capable of identifying and coordinating with appropriate staff to resolve issues
• Some travel required
