Job Description
Position Description:
This full-time position exists to develop, promote, and supervise information literacy training and programs within the Learning Commons. This position will have primary responsibility for library reference services and for information literacy learning outcomes at ACC.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
15% Information Literacy Instruction:
Provide individual and classroom instruction in information literacy to students, faculty and staff across disciplines.
40% Reference Services within the Learning Commons:
Provide direction and supervision to mentoring, oversight and monitoring of the library’s reference services (in person at the reference desk, via the phone and internet).
15% Digital Reference Support:
Maintain the information literacy functions on the library’s website, including Libguides, Webex, and tutorials.
30% Collection Development:
Catalogue and process new books and materials into the library collections.

Candidates will be evaluated on the basis of their qualifications as related to the duties and responsibilities of the position. • Master’s degree of Library Science or Master’s degree of Library and Information Science from an ALA-accredited institution (completed by June 2013);
• Reference or public service experience in an academic library;
• Ability to work with web-based tools (particularly LibGuides, Webex and Podcasts);
• Successful completion of a MLS level class in cataloguing;
• Strong written skills; and
• Willingness to work evening and Saturdays.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Expertise developing and implementing information literacy programs in higher education, including student learning outcomes and assessment;
• Knowledge of contemporary standards for information literacy in academic libraries;
• Strong commitment to roving reference, digital resourcing, and student service;
• Experience with cataloging;
• Two years of experience providing reference services to a diverse student body in a comprehensive community college; and
• Strong verbal communication skills.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work is generally confined to a standard office environment.
