Due to career advancement, Colorado State Penitentiary has a need for a professional Librarian. Responsibilities include supervising and mentoring a team of Library Technicians, including hiring, training and evaluation. Under the direction of a Program Manager and Regional Librarian, this full-time position will plan, coordinate and supervise public/school-type (not law) library services to adult offenders at multiple libraries, where an average of 86% of the population uses the library.

**PROFESSIONAL WORK EXPERIENCE**: Involves exercising discretion, analytical skill, judgment, and personal accountability and responsibility for creating, developing, integrating, applying, and sharing an organized body of knowledge that characteristically is: uniquely acquired through an intense education or training regimen at a recognized college or university; equivalent to the curriculum requirements for a Bachelor’s or higher degree with major study in or pertinent to the specialized field and continuously studied to explore, extend and use additional discoveries, interpretations, and application and to improve data, materials, equipment, applications, and methods.
SUBSTITUTIONS: Professional library work experience as defined above may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the Bachelor’s Degree. A Master's or Doctorate Degree from an ALA- or NCATE-accredited college or university in Library Science or related field of study, e.g. Educational Media or School Library Education, may be substituted for the Bachelor's Degree and one year (MS) or two years (PhD) of professional experience respectively.
Required competencies: proficiency in office technologies, especially Microsoft Office Suite and integrated library systems, exceptional customer service/interpersonal skills, ability to teach others how to do something, active listening skills, ability to multi-task and demonstrate flexibility, organization, planning and priotizing skills, strong self-motivation, attention to detail, significant critical thinking, decision making, and problem-solving skills, and excellent written and oral communication skills.
