Job Description
The Visiting Reference/Instruction Librarian is a full-time temporary position available immediately and funded through June 30, 2014.
This Visiting Reference Librarian is responsible for teaching sessions in the Tiered Instruction program in coordination with Introductory Composition and Intermediate Composition courses. This Librarian also shares responsibility with other reference librarians for staffing the reference desk, which provides opportunities for one-on-one teaching, 10-12 hours each week, including an evening shift. This Librarian may teach faculty requested bibliographic instruction sessions, assist in collection development work in associated liaison areas and perform special projects as assigned.
Responsibilities:
Teach sessions in the Library Instruction program in coordination with Introductory Composition and Intermediate Composition courses
Share responsibility with other reference librarians for staffing the reference desk, 10-12 hours each week, including an evening shift
Teach faculty requested bibliographic instruction sessions, as assigned
Investigate and implement emerging technologies useful to the organization
Assist in collection development work in areas to be determined
May participate in the Reference or Instruction Library Teams
Member of the Librarians’ Council
Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:
Demonstrated ability to work independently and contribute as part of a team
Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills
Experience demonstrating organizational and problem-solving skills
Proficiency in use of online search systems
Preferred Qualifications:
Library instruction experience, especially classroom teaching
Library reference experience or equivalent
Familiarity and ease with using and implementing new technologies
