Job Description
Essential duties include, but not limited to, the following:
• Knowledge of children and teen books, including graphic novels.
• Knowledge of adult graphic novels.
• Knowledge of Spanish language materials - desired but not essential.
• Ability to translate the needs and interests of children and teens into materials for our collection.
• Stays current on trends in library services and materials to children and teens.
• Stays current on trends in the graphic novel field for all ages including adults.
• Works on building a Spanish collection that will meet the needs of Jefferson County residents.
• Experience with K-12 education or equivalent preferred.
• Participates with others in cross-functional teams to accomplish goals and objectives.
• Maintain a flexible schedule, able to work some evenings weekends, holidays.
Qualifications:
• You are passionate about the materials, in particular books, that libraries collect for children and teens.
• Experience doing collection development for children and teens, with the addition of other areas such as adult graphic novels and Spanish materials
• You engage well with others.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills required.
• Master’s degree in Library/Information Science (may be in process) or combination of education and equivalent level library experience: over one year up to and including three years.
• Public Library experience preferred.
