Job Description
The temporary Reference/Instruction Librarian participates as a member of the Reference and Instructional Services Department team in the implementation of instructional programs, reference and information services, and special initiatives and projects. The person in this position will be responsible for reference, instruction, and collection development targeted to selected humanities or social sciences fields. In addition, the person in this position may serve as a coordinator for a special project to relocate print titles from the periodicals collection. The Reference and Instructional Services Department provides general reference and instructional services to the students and faculty of the University of Colorado at Boulder and specializes in services and collections for the social sciences and humanities. This position reports to the head of Reference.
Appointment and Salary: The successful candidate will be appointed for one year as a temporary full-time (12 month) instructor with the possibility of renewal. Anticipated start date is July 1, 2007. Salary will be $36,000. Benefits include 22 working days vacation, 10 paid holidays, liberal sick leave, and the option of participating in the University group health care and group life insurance plans.
Additional Info & Requirements
Master's degree from an ALA-accredited library school completed or in progress, a commitment to teaching and the library's instructional role in undergraduate education, demonstrated ability to work in a team environment, strong interpersonal skills, effective oral and written communication skills.
Desirable Qualifications: One or more years of experience in providing library services to undergraduates, classroom teaching experience, collection development experience, and supervision experience.
