Job Description

Essential Duties:
- Delivers Consistent Quality Customer Experience - Communicate expectations to staff about library service and trends in customer service
- Work involves providing information to patrons in-person, by phone, mail and via electronic means
- Performs simple to moderately complex research activities; advises patrons on appropriate materials; locates materials through the use of manual and electronic databases in JCPL, other library systems, or other sources
- Refers patrons to community resources and other appropriate resources for further information as necessary; and advises about on-line searching
- Advises and instructs library patrons in using equipment necessary to access library resources
- Uses high-level customer service skills to determine patron needs and create a positive, inviting atmosphere for all patrons
- May present programming training or classes to the public, both on and off site
- Supervision and Training - Hires, assigns, trains, orients, and supervises staff in area of responsibility, including coaching on industry best practices
- Prepares and submits routine reports as necessary for library management
- Participates with others in cross-functional teams to accomplish goals and objectives
Additional Info & Requirements
- Intermediate knowledge of the principles of supervision and customer service
- Knowledge of library integrated systems and library collection development
- Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing
- Ability to adapt to rapidly changing environments, including emergency situations
- Ability to create and maintain effective working relationships
- Ability to audit local budget
- Maintains quality in programs presented in their location, including off-site locations as needed
